Colonial Recitation Bee and Fair, Fall 2012
We enjoyed an afternoon together - students dressed as historical characters, reciting poetry and the Declaration of Independence as well as singing and playing songs. Other highlights - apple cider and cornbread muffins, colonial games, candle dipping, sewing, colonial dancing and finally a game of "Are you Smarter than a SLOCA student" with some brave dads going up against our Lower Middle School students.

Revolutionary Cannon-Bowl, Fall 2012
This year our students wore either red or blue and headed to Santa Maria Rancho Bowl for the first ever - Revolutionary Cannon-Bowl! This was our student led fundraiser. Thank you to everyone who supported us!

After reading about the Spanish Armada, our Intermediate students created a reenactment on the playground. So much fun - from planning and developing to the battle to the clean-up afterward.

This year, as a school community, we celebrated math! Each student created a math game and we gathered on March 1 to share and play these math games together from our youngest students to high school and parents!
RUNaissance, Winter 2012
Friday, March 9, our families participated in our annual student fundraiser. This year, we had a Renaissance inspired walk-a-thon - a Runaissance. We took to the Bob Jones Trail in Avila Beach for a great time of running, walking, collecting pins and stamps as well as meeting up with some of history's great explorers and sponsors - Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain, Magellan, Columbus, Da Gama among others. It was a beautiful day on the Central Coast and so much fun to enjoy it together while supporting the school!

Another fun session of enrichment - our students enjoyed classes in sewing, painting, felting, crochet, cooking, Taekwondo, drawing, percussion, fencing, science, photography, film production, Lego-tecture, musical theater, among others!

Canterbury Tales Summer Camp, Summer 2011
In summer, 2011, we did a theatre camp. The kids dabbled in acting, set design, costume design and film, culminating with a very entertaining production of Canterbury Tales.

At the end of the 2009/2010 school year, we celebrated our studies with a Simply Roman History Day, where students and their families experienced first hand the bustle and activities of everyday Roman life.
